The wealthiest people in the U.S. evidently met recently to discuss what they could do to shore up the non-profit world. (If you haven’t heard, with the economy tanking, charitable donations are down.) People like Bill & Melinda Gates, Warren Buffet, Oprah, Michael Bloomberg, Ted Turner and more. As a group, they’ve donated more than $70 billion in last 13 years. Call it $5 billion a year for sake of easy math. (more…)

Last night I went to the Social Media Club meeting (#SMCBoston) held at Hill Holiday’s State Street offices. Hill Holiday kicked things off with a multi-media overview of their incredibly creative Chili’s campaign (using P.J. Bland’s.) I loved the idea of using social media to “activate assets.” (Sounds like Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse, doesn’t it?) And, the entire connected universe, wow. Impressive…budget. With a short introduction for and from each, the panel was introduced. (more…)

Last night I attended the Geek Girls dinner in Cambridge’s Betahouse (a shared workspace for entrepreneurs.) I’m probably not geeky enough to be a full-fledged member of Geek Girls but I love and appreciate my sisters in tech enough where they kindly overlook my own lack of tech credentials. (more…)
