Bobbie Carlton PR and Marketing
Integrated Public Relations, Marketing and Social Media

About

Over the past 20+ years, Bobbie Carlton has worked in both agencies and in-house at some of the largest high tech companies in the world, and with some of the smallest.  Always a believer in life-long learning, and adopting new techniques and technologies, she was among the first PR people to have and use email, electronic measurement of results and today’s social networking tools.  External PR counsel for high-tech companies such as Authoria, ftp Software, Lexmark International, Onyx and many others, she created break-through programs that positioned clients as leaders. She was also responsible for building in-house global communications departments for Cognos (now IBM) and PTC.

In 2006, she turned her attention to marketing to kids.  Until recently, she managed and implemented all marketing functions (PR, advertising, Web marketing, strategic alliances) for a well-known national brand that offers positive messages for tweens via a social networking website, books and gifts and accessories.  She also spent time consulting on marketing for a family-focused resort.

In 2009, Carlton shifted gears yet again and created Mass Innovation Nights, a monthly product launch party and networking night held at the Charles River Museum of Industry & Innovation in Waltham.  The event showcases a number of new products for a wide variety of companies and uses social media to help those companies gain visibility.   The events also help the museum gain visibility and a fresh new audience of potential volunteers and donors.  The “MIN” events have also become important for job seekers, looking for networking opportunities.  More than 160 guests attended the first event which was also widely reported in the local media.

Carlton is a sought-after speaker and panelist on topics ranging from marketing using social media to COPPA (Children’s Online Privacy and Protection Act) compliance.  Available for a client-eye view of PR agencies and services, she can also address the new tools agencies should be using to get the best results for their integrated marketing programs.
